Our Pansol Tradition: Kicking Off Manila Summer @TirtaSpringVilla

We have cherished childhood memories of the hot springs in Pansol, Laguna, where Popsy would often take us to La Vista, Cuyab, or one of the public hot spring resorts. This summer tradition has carried on through the years, and now, we’re passing on our love for Pansol to the next generation through private Airbnb hot spring resort experiences.

Since the pandemic, we’ve been returning to Tirta Spring Villa for its water basketball feature, fully equipped kitchen, and spacious setting—perfect for big family gatherings. With a capacity of up to 30 guests and five toilets, it’s an ideal getaway for making lasting memories. We’ve tried other private resorts in Pansol, but they often fall short of expectations.

With March marking the official start of summer, here are some tips for an unforgettable Pansol escape:

Tirta Spring Villa Favorites

We love water basketball—it’s a game where you can shoot, hustle for the ball, box out in the water, and swim for loose balls, all while getting a great workout and having fun. With the warm hot spring water, we especially enjoy playing or just hanging around the pool at night.

So when JX invited all his male friends to join us in Pansol, the pool turned into a lively battleground. It was nonstop action, and we had a blast playing and enjoying the water.

We love playing Mahjong with the boys, but it’s hard to get a seat—even Yugi loves to join! They started because it’s the one game their Ama can still enjoy. They’re also comfortable with the Chinese characters and understand some words. Some school friends bring heirloom Mahjong tiles, making the game even more special—there’s just something about shuffling the tiles and feeling the engraved characters.

Tirta Spring Villa has its own Mahjong set and table, so the fun lasts all night—just clean fun, no gambling!

Best of all, the hot Pansol spring water is therapeutic and perfect for a morning swim. It’s great for all ages—kids, Gen X, and parents alike—making it an ideal spot to relax with your multi-generational family.

The pool is naturally hot, but you can request fresh hot spring water for maximum therapeutic effect. At night, the cool Mt. Makiling breeze, warm Pansol spring water, and a refreshing cold shower create the perfect way to beat the summer heat.

It also helps that check-in at Pansol is usually at 4 PM, just before sunset, while check-out is before 1 PM—right before the midday heat becomes unbearable.

What Potluck Food to Bring?

Tirta Spring Villa has a large refrigerator with a freezer, plus a separate freezer for extra storage or for cooling drinks faster. It can accommodate all your food for an overnight stay, and bringing raw ingredients is a great option to enjoy freshly cooked meals on-site.

Note: The cold water dispenser is not working, and the refrigerator may take time to cool your food. To stay prepared, bring extra ice for your drinks and to keep cool in the summer heat.

We had plenty of food, snacks, and desserts—here are our favorites for your next Pansol trip:

  • Steamed peanuts – perfect for healthy, mindless snacking.
  • Fresh fruits – a must-have! Mango, green mango, watermelon, strawberries, and cherries
  • Siomai from North Park – comes with a hot box for easy steaming.
  • Ensaymada – even better if it’s from My Baby Pat’s Premium Ensaymada.
  • Puto, kutsinta, or other kakanin – plus Los Baños Original Buko Pie for merienda.
  • Liempo, chicken, or boneless bangus – great for charcoal grilling.
  • Homemade sandwiches – made with love.
  • Ice cream – because no trip is complete without it!

Note: Some people have food allergies, so it’s best to avoid shrimp, crabs, shellfish, or even salmon. Always check for food allergies specially if you have overnight events like this.

Night Night

Sunset on the second floor is truly romantic, with a stunning view of Mt. Makiling.

Relaxing in the jacuzzi as the sun sets creates the perfect setting for intimate conversations.

We gave the boys their privacy, but we could still hear them playing games, watching movies, doing an Insta livestream, jamming on the guitar, and staying up as late as 4:00 AM.

Final Thoughts

A heartfelt thank you to all of Joshua’s friends and their parents for an unforgettable Pansol experience—one we’ll cherish and talk about for years to come. Special thanks to Tirta Spring Villa for helping us create such wonderful memories!
